Geotechnical and Geophysical Study for the International Terminal of Fluids of Tuxpan

Description: The Geotechnical Exploration of this project consisted in the execution of 15 mixed soundings alternating the standard penetration test with the recovery of undisturbed samples by means of thin wall samplers (Shelby) applying ASTMD1587 and thick wall (California) applying the ASTMD3550 standard, to know the physical properties of the materials and the characteristics of the subsoil. The probes were drilled at depths between 9.00m and 61.50m. Five drilling machines owned by EPGC were mobilized, which have the capacity of triple perforation, counting with automatic hammer.

 

We made 19 Piezocone CPTu Essays. This test is carried out through the driving of a cone instrumented by hydraulic means for the determination of the resistance of the ground to the driving of the cone (resistance of the shaft and tip with measurement of the pore pressure).

 

The exploration was complemented by Geophysical surveys, which consisted in the performance of geosseismic tests of  Down Hole (DH) and Environmental Vibration (VA) for the characterization of the longitudinal wave velocities and cutting wave in the stratigraphic column at 3 points of the site.
